About Alpaca Wool

Alpaca fleece is the natural fibre harvested from an alpaca.

Alpaca’s natural fibre is one of the most valued around the world because of its unique characteristics. It is softer, brighter and more delicate than other fibres.

It is also a durable, luxurious and silky natural fibre which makes it perfect for the textile industry. While similar to sheep’s wool, it is warmer, not prickly, and has no lanolin, which makes it hypoallergenic.

Alpaca is naturally water-repellent and difficult to ignite.

Alpaca fleece is made into various products, from very simple garments made by the indigenous communities to sophisticated, industrially made and expensive products such as suits.

The best alpaca fibres are found in the Andes Mountains, at more than 13,000 feet (4000m) above the sea level. Peru is the world leading Alpaca fibre producer, with more than 85% of the world's production.

Why Alpaca and Acrylic Blend?

The Alpaca-acrylic blend is an excellent choice for children's clothing because it will not irritate kids sensitive skin. It is lighter and softer  than a 100% alpaca fibre and at the same time maintains the breathability and the luxurious feel of the Alpaca. It also allows obtaining brighter colors more suitable for kids clothing.
